What RM025 Means for RM004v2 and Richard Mille

Though I am not that into the fatty look of the RM025, I am astonishing yet glad to find that it has the ultra-complex "rattrapante" function removed from the variant of the RM008 movement.This calibre comfication really means something to the commercial interests.But surprisingly, few people has noticed this point. Could it be that the RM008v2 and especially the RM004v2 are close to see their end? Will they be replaced by the same movement but withoug the the ratrapante complication.
As far as I know, RM004v2 is 10,000 miles from a profitable watch to the brand due to the difficulty in procucing the rattrapante complication.
Considering the difficulty in making and the extremely limited production, Richard Mille should have put an ultra-luxurious price tag to RM004v2 like a tourbillon. But the price is not in that range all. So the existing owner actually get more value than the amount they have paid for.
Before RM004m there was a huge price gap (nearly 200k ) between the top priced RM005 and the second priced the RM 002. But, of course, RM 004 was not born to fill the gap. It was in fact one of the first projects by RM. To completely design a new Chronograph from scratch posed an immense challenge. Up to now, I believe that it only saw the light because of political and not commercial reasons. Demand was brutal for the RM004 with 400 outstanding orders and a production limit of 15 to 25 pieces per year.
It was foreseen that the demand for the RM004 would decrease with the launch of the RM001. But it was not the case. RM004 still had it days while RM001 was well-received. They actually attract two completely different customers though they both are added with chronograph complication. Therefore, the supply/demand problem of RM004 still continues.
With the new RM025 without the rattrapante complication, things could change. I has always held the opinion that the RM004 would not last long because of the difficulty in manufacturing. And the removal of the rattrapante complication means the decease of the price and the he complexity of the manufacturing.
